Alright, I admit, I didn’t do a very good job of posting this summer. I have another “blog” that is something more like a diary and I use that on a much more frequent basis. I’ve adjusted to that format so using this is a bit of a challenge. I also feel that if this has the ability to include pictures, that I should. So, when I don’t use pictures in a blog, I feel like I’ve failed on some level.
THE GOOD NEWS is that I’m back at school where I have constant internet access and a lot of time to procrastinate doing homework. This means I will post, sometimes. Probably at odd hours (case-in-point, right now).
Until I can get new batteries for my camera and take pictures of my knitting, I will leave you with a glimpse of my summer…
Which, from the table’s point of view, looked something like….
This!
Alright, it’s to bed with me.

I knit something very much resembling this out of this (color: violet). Please don’t gag, it wasn’t disgusting (even with the acrylic). I borrowed Amanda’s Denise needles in size 15 on Sunday and had them back by 7:30 tonight (this is during finals week, mind you, and I’m working 5-7 hours a day).
Pictures soon enough of this, razor, and a hint of the surprise for my Momma!
Also, I will be going to Poland on Saturday. HOORAY!

That is Albert Darwin Heathcliff, or ADH for short. He is the newest addition to my room. I won him at a school event today. I think he might be anorexic though, as he has yet to eat any food and it’s been a while.

This ball of bluish stuff is actually purple and looks more like this

More later…I’m supposed to be doing homework.

I really am. I am sorry! Part of the reason is that I really wanted this blog so that I would have a place to upload pictures and whatnot, but, sadly, I do not have my camera cord to do so (I have no idea where it is…I will try and find it next weekend when I’m home). Another reason is that it’s been so busy around here the past month that I haven’t had time for much else besides school work. I promise I will update on a semi-regular basis from now on : )
But now, it is time for some Steinbeck (East of Eden) because Alex got me back into a Steinbeck mood.

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s been pretty much like every other day so far…except I made extra sure to do things I like today. I figure that it’s important to do things to be happy and that make you happy today because so much emphasis is put on the other people around you to make you happy and that just doesn’t seem fair. So I am listening to music that I love (Rocky Votolato) and knitting a bag that I am very quickly falling in love with. It’s my own design and it will eventually have circles on it (in duplicate stitch) and then it will be felted! HURRAY!
Also, my family got me flowers and they are very pretty and make me happy. I still don’t have my camera cord so no pictures
sorry!

I was going to make Sesame from MagKnits. I got some pretty yarn and made the back and most of one of the front sides…and then I just stopped knitting. I moved on to other projects and it got lost at the bottom of the my knitting basket. Cleaning today, I found it again and I was going to work on it, but then I remembered that I am allergic to wool (it’s 100% wool, and only sort of soft). So, instead of finishing that, I decided that I’m going to knit myself a nice felted bag! I can’t wait. I just made a swatch (this is one of my first swatches ever), and I’m going to work on the design. I’ve noticed that I don’t really knit from patterns all that much. I mostly modify them and adapt them to what I want/need for a project. I like working new stitches into whatever I’m making; it’s MUCH more fun this way!
I also decided to scrap the lace. The pattern was kind of wonky and it had a yarn over in a weird place that I really didn’t like (it made it look like there were a bunch of holes in my knitting, in a bad way). I think I’m going to take Amanda’s advice and knit the Yarn Harlot’s Snowdrop Shawl (PDF file). I can’t wait to start that, too!
Wifey (Amanda) also got me a knitting calendar for Christmas
It is sitting happily next to my desk and it has patterns, yarns, tips, quotes, and websites for each day of the year (the SnB calendar).
Finally, I just bought tickets to Florida for spring break! I can’t wait to visit my family down there and enjoy the WARM WEATHER!
