So I did my laundry tonight AND felted my purse/bag/thing. It needed two cycles because the first one had too many other things in it. I think my jeans cluttered it up too much. Kiri is also coming along nicely. She’s at about 5 repeats but it’s slow going with 150 and growing stitches per row. Easy in that I can do it, but hard in that I have to be able to read the pattern so I can’t do much else besides listen to music or half watch TV. This also means that I cannot study for my midterm tomorrow whilst knitting
So I have to go study now, so I don’t fail my Christian Ethics class.
(Note: Kiri is my first lace project and I. Am. Slow.)
Also, I just filled out my applications to get off board (it’s hard, here) and to live in the international house. Wish me luck on both, they get turned in tomorrow!

I started Kiri tonight while on call, sitting in the penalty box. I am now nearly three full repeats down the back
While knitting tonight, it just kind of clicked how the “knitting from the center spine out thing” worked. I didn’t really get it before and it was frustrated me to no end.
I also watched “The Exorcist” tonight while on call. SCARY! Wow, I needed to open my door, turn my light on, and only 1/2 pay attention so as not to get the bajesus scared out of me. Yes, I said bajesus. I am not one for scary movies…I need company to watch them or else I cry (I’m not sure why I subject myself to this sort of torture, but I’ve heard it’s a good movie).
The things on TV at 3:40am are ridiculous. There is a rather large lady selling a home deep fryer (one of the guys advertising it is a “college guy” who “had some friends over for the game and just grabbed stuff from around the house and threw it in the oil” ew. Also, one of the things that comes with the fryer is a free book on how to make french fries.), the MTV show Parental Control is on, and there are TONS of commercials for “sexy girls on your cell phone!” They are pretty funny.
Alright, enough of this 3:40 am TV. If I can pull myself away from Kiri, I am going to go to bed!

Kiri or Snowdrop? Because my 800 yards of purple hand dyed merino need to be knit and SOON! Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? I’ve seen Kiri knit with a non-mohair yarn and she looks pretty (What? Do you have a problem with me assigning a gender to an inanimate object?).
Ok, back to working my butt off (I’ve been uber productive today!)

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s been pretty much like every other day so far…except I made extra sure to do things I like today. I figure that it’s important to do things to be happy and that make you happy today because so much emphasis is put on the other people around you to make you happy and that just doesn’t seem fair. So I am listening to music that I love (Rocky Votolato) and knitting a bag that I am very quickly falling in love with. It’s my own design and it will eventually have circles on it (in duplicate stitch) and then it will be felted! HURRAY!
Also, my family got me flowers and they are very pretty and make me happy. I still don’t have my camera cord so no pictures
sorry!

I was going to make Sesame from MagKnits. I got some pretty yarn and made the back and most of one of the front sides…and then I just stopped knitting. I moved on to other projects and it got lost at the bottom of the my knitting basket. Cleaning today, I found it again and I was going to work on it, but then I remembered that I am allergic to wool (it’s 100% wool, and only sort of soft). So, instead of finishing that, I decided that I’m going to knit myself a nice felted bag! I can’t wait. I just made a swatch (this is one of my first swatches ever), and I’m going to work on the design. I’ve noticed that I don’t really knit from patterns all that much. I mostly modify them and adapt them to what I want/need for a project. I like working new stitches into whatever I’m making; it’s MUCH more fun this way!
I also decided to scrap the lace. The pattern was kind of wonky and it had a yarn over in a weird place that I really didn’t like (it made it look like there were a bunch of holes in my knitting, in a bad way). I think I’m going to take Amanda’s advice and knit the Yarn Harlot’s Snowdrop Shawl (PDF file). I can’t wait to start that, too!
Wifey (Amanda) also got me a knitting calendar for Christmas
It is sitting happily next to my desk and it has patterns, yarns, tips, quotes, and websites for each day of the year (the SnB calendar).
Finally, I just bought tickets to Florida for spring break! I can’t wait to visit my family down there and enjoy the WARM WEATHER!

I forgot that I left my camera cable at home, so I can’t upload any pictures right now. If I could upload them, however, you would now be looking at a picture of my lace scarf. It’s my first lace project and the pattern is based on Knitty’s I Do. I revised the pattern so it doesn’t reverse and it is no longer a shrug, but a scarf. I am making it with KnitPicks bare merino laceweight wool that I hand dyed with the college’s knitting club, BritKnits.
Instead, I am uploading my FIRST PICTURE! Hurray! Here goes…
Oh! It worked!
Alrighty, time to go knit and watch TV and maybe do some reading for class tomorrow (though I only have two, as my Christian Ethics class was cancelled)

Well, here I am! I now have a REAL blog and it’s pretty darn exciting. When it is not midnight (a time that should be for sleeping and not blogging), I will post a few pictures of around here, my friends, and probably some knitting
Sadly, this will not be a fantastic first post, I’m not exactly sure what a “fantastic first post” might entail, but I feel as though this is not it. C’est la vie.
The basics about me are that I am 20, I am go to college in Michigan and I am majoring in English and Religious Studies (concentration in Judaism) and minoring in Spanish. I eventually want to go to rabbinic school This spring I’m going to Poland to help rebuild Jewish cemeteries and sometime next year, I will be studying in Spain (part of why I started this blog was so I could communicate with my family and friends while I am away).
I am, at present, too tired to continue to write semi-coherent sentences, so it’s off to knit/watch TV/enjoy my cup of tea and then bed!
